Tom Bohacek

Co-Owner/Engineer

Thomas (Tom) Bohacek grew up in Richmond, Texas. At an early age he studied in an electronics vocational training course, which included basic electronics, circuit design and analysis, and digital microprocessor theory. It was during that time that he discovered his passion for electronics and audio design. With a hands-on approach, Tom initiated his career as a Technical Representative for Maxim Sound in Houston, Texas. His role included technical support, design, fabrication and installation of audio and video systems. This led Tom to Pro Audio Service, which included designing, servicing and installing sound and lighting systems for stage productions.

Having recognized Tom's enthusiasm for the sound industry, a major Houston radio station approached Tom to produce their events. Apart from his regular job, Tom maintained a side career for ten years with KILT-FM providing live sound and production services that included county fairs, rodeos, amphitheaters, cruise lines, and even a super bowl. In the local community, Tom became sought after for his expertise in live production. He produced major artists in local events including Vince Gill, Diamond Rio, Willie Nelson, Houston Pops Orchestra, and the 1992 Democratic Convention, just to name a few.

Having the love for music engineering and production, Tom started collecting and maintaining equipment to produce his own shows. Here, he started his own sound production company, Bayou City Sound with his long-time aquaintance, Scott Powers. Together, the partners began producing fairs, festivals, bands, and corporate events for both small and large-scale productions. Achieving a multi-faceted role in the audio/video industry, Tom is capable of wearing many hats, from custom design and installation, to technical service for pro audio/video, and live sound engineering and production.

Scott Powers

Co-Owner/Engineer

Scott (Scotty) Powers was born in Chicago, where he lived for 13 years. Growing up in a musical family, he began singing in the children's choir at age 3, and danced to Chubby Checker records. At age 8 he began playing the trumpet and continued expanding his vocal work to become a soloist in the church youth and adult choir. His family moved to south Florida in 1969 where Scott was indroduced to additional musical styles. While having an early interest in Big Band, Rock and R&B, he became active in Latin, Reggae, and Soul. He took up the guitar at age 14 while still in demand for his vocal work.

After graduating from high school, he began an insurance career, adjusting complex claims and handling litigated cases, followed by marriage and family, and a move to Houston, TX in 1979. While his passion for music never waned, there was less time to enjoy it, until 1988 when his schedule allowed more time for musical projects.

A friend in a local Houston band recognized Scott's love of music and suggested that he help with their live show production. Scott found it comfortable to make the transition from performer to technician, and the band soon made him stage manager and monitor engineer. Maintaining a successful career in the insurance industry, Scott expanded a side career with KILT-FM, providing live sound and production services for all of their events from Rodeos and county fairs to a The Super Bowl 1992.

Scott was welcomed on any stage in the local community for his hard work and desire to learn, repeating his earlier success in live production, being placed in charge of many stages. Realizing that he could further expand his passion for engineering and production, Scott approached long-time friend, Tom Bohacek, who was aquiring equipment and producing shows of his own. Together they began to build Bayou City Sound to handle fairs, festivals, bands, and corporate events on any scale.

With a 30 year career in insurance and a life-long passion for music, Scott has gained the versatility to handle the responsibility of running a business while being able to handle any situation in which he is needed, while providing event production.
